Living dreams

mem.jpg Well, it's official. As of Nov. 12 I'll be traveling to New Zealand to edit Memories of Tommorow, a digital feature by my good friend Amit Tripuraneni. This is an immensely excitting time in my life. I'd hoped that Amit and I would have the chance to work together again. And getting to return to NZ, a place and time of so many mingled memories of both bitter and sweet, it'll be awesome. I remember my last night in NZ, sitting on Takapuna beach and thinking, 'will I ever see this place again'? Though as I even posed this I knew NZ was not yet finished with me. I can't wait to live this upcoming experience. It's like a living dream for me.

late night mailbox

I am awaiting the arrival of Yojimbo and Sanjuro in my mailbox as per my netflix rental queue. I havn't seen too many Akira Kurosawa films(just Ikiru and Seven Samurai). He made something like 30 films. I'd like to see them all.

It is said that Yojimbo served as the prototype for Clint Eastwood's A Fistful of Dollars. It is cool that early Japanese Samurai films influenced the speghetti westerns. Akira's The Hidden Fortress is said to have served as as George lucas' inspiration for Star Wars.

stuff for sale...

Well, I'm trying to sell my car in a desparate attempt to get some cash to relocate with. One day I promise everyone that I will not always be broke. I was trying to think of other stuff I could sell but I don't seem to have too many material possesions. Anyone want to buy a DVD anthology of my shorts? - 'Coin Laundry', 'And San Fernando', and 'Ladder of Paralells'. Of course then I'd have to split the profits with my fellow co-horts and filmmakers from those pieces - Tony, Jordan, and Amit. Oh well.... By the way, I plan on linking to all my friends' and associates' sites some day but I wanted to throw up a link to Amit's movie site: UNKREATIVE ARTISTS He's making an awesome movie from the looks of things and he's got lots of photos and a couple of teaser trailers up. It's been really neat to check out the photos and catch occasional glances of people I know from the 2003 south seas school year. It makes me nostalgic for New Zealand. A million tiny memories and moments full of living, pain, and awe all rolled up into one year. Blah, blah, blah... I sound nostalgic as well now. Well, adieu.

Back home again

I'm back in FLorida after spending a week in Atlanta. I was visiting and working with my friend Tony and his wife Amy, and also their two dogs, Misu and Gracie. Played lots of music, ate sardines and cracker, watched rediculous old anime and kung fu. I think fall is nearing. It's getting cooler at night. oh, coin laundry is officially complete. I'll upload it in the next day or two and put up a link.
