3 days

I got a new job(3 days ago) to tide me over until NTL starts shooting. The job has a learning curve and I am adjusting under pressure at times but it's good. I also got a car, a 1988 Mitsubishi Galant. Seems to drive okay. Other than that I've been pretty tired, from adjusting to the new job and trying to cram things in my head about how to keep 4 avids and a patch bay running smoothly. I've already learned a lot actually in just these 3 days. Getting things set up have been a little bit of a stress with a bank acct., rent, tax number, etc... piece by piece. Can't complain really. This transition has still been amazingly easy and I can't believe my luck - with the last two places I've lived, Utah, and here now, I've gotten a job within two weeks of arriving. Speaking of two weeks, I've been here in NZ 2 weeks today. The weather is windy, rainy, and cold but it doesn't bother me. I guess after walking around in Utah's winter for a season, my standard of uncomfortable weather has been upped. Hopefully I'll get the chance to see more of the country and enjoy being here after I get adjusted and settled.

auckland

Everything is going great here. I am off to a good start and looks promising that I might have some work lined up in a week's time. Went to see a movie with Amit tonight and when we got back we both noticed the low clouds that provided a striking view of the city scape. I thought about getting my camera and taking a pic but forgot and got caught up in watching TV until a few hours later. Finally remembered but the clouds had departed but I decided to take some photos anyway. The view at the top of the driveway from the north shore. You can see the sky tower and city lights and it's a pretty nice view. A close up of the sky tower. well, time for bed. Speaking of bed. It is cold, yes, but I bought a Duvet last night, which is the sort of cover that are popular in NZ in he winter and I couldn't believe how warm it kept me when my room was in fact freezing. Nice stuff. Still going to get a little heater though.

safe arrival

I flew Frontier airlines to L.A. - The flight to LAX from Salt Lake was long and complicated. But the flight from L.A. to Auckland was just great. Had a whole row of seats to myself and managed to sleep a good deal of the night away. The flight seemed really short to me. A pic from the middle of the night in Air NZ's massive 747(I love these planes, they're so huge. Not even comparable to a domestic flight). I am getting settled in here nicely. It's cold but not that cold. It just kind of gets to you because not a lot of houses here in NZ have any kind of heating built in. I will have to get a heater for my bedroom I am thinking.

last days of provo

These last days have evaporated and now it's 2:11am and I'm packing for the flight tomorrow. Another dispensation ends... I tagged along with Jordan and Joanna and family to a park in Provo Canyon. It was nice scenery to say goodbye too. I like the water in Utah. The rivers and streams look so clean and move swiftly. I miss the ocean living in the mountains but whenever I am near to one of the rivers, I feel better. In any case, I will be returning to the ocean soon. I saw bee that somehow got stuck in between the glass. I couldn't think of a way to save him so I decided to just document his existance: A goodbye to the parking garage at my work, dark and depressing on many morning if you allow it to be: A goodbye to Jordan and Joanna's hallway, bright, quaint: goodbye to spring ans summer-to-come: Goodbye Utah.
