greys ave

I was looking for a parking space on Greys Ave in mid-town, on my way to see Transformers, which was really pretty cool, aside from a handful of cringe-worthy dialogue moments...and anyway, out of no where this young woman runs out in the street and starts chasing me down.  I stopped and she asked if I could help her.  She seemed pretty hysterical.  It turned out the three guys had robbed her of her purse and run off.  I called the 111 emergency service and they sent a bunch of police.  Then I parked and went to the movie.  I felt really bad for her, she just kept crying and telling me how everything was in her purse, Her drivers license, atm and credit cards, mobile phone, Korean ID, etc...

the ilussion of stability

The company I work for is closing down due to the death of one of the partners.  The company closes officially on July 27th, which is my birthday incidentally.  Time to look for a new job!

licensing

Recently I was forbidden to drive since I didn't have a NZ license (you are only allowed to drive on a foriegn license for 12 months). I was told that I'd be arrested and have my car impounded if I got caught driving again. So I bit the bullet and took the test and got my florida license converted to a NZ full license. It's a relief to be able to drive again. Last night I ordered a "Physcho Filler" combo from burger king. I felt so rediculous to utter "Yes, I'll take a physcho filler"...

more about vacation

Well, I hadn't had a vacation in a long time (christmas of 2005), so Shuzhen and I packed up and went to Rotorua friday through monday. Rotorua is a hotbed for thermal activity. The molten lava, which is so close to the surface, heats the water and causes all sorts of wierd things to happen. Check the video. ;)
In other news, towards the end of the trip I learned that one of the partners in the company I worked for had suddenly died over the weekend. It's really crazy to think of how fragile life is. I wish his family and friends my condolences and sincerest hopes in coping with this.

after rain

I bought it for $850 USD at the Car Fair(which is sort of like a flea-market, but for cars). It is so nice to be able to get to and from work so freely again. :)
